10:20 pm - Wireless
I'm super pleased to have bought RF wireless headphones tonight. I can listen to music from my computer all the way in the kitchen or even the basement, but most importantly from my bed without tripping on a wire or bugging the rest of the house!

So far so good, Sony MDR-RF985RK; they were on sale at Factory Direct.

11:02 am - Much to do!
Tonight I am going to a concert on a boat while it tours around Toronto Harbour.
Tomorrow I am going to a rave on a moving streetcar (chartered).

My ex roommate from the apartment I sublet two years ago is visiting from Montreal and couchsurfing with me this weekend.

We're also going to see a band named Jumple, and probably will enjoy Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market.

Much to do! Not much time left for studying.

3:59 pm - On awesome birthdays
Currently my bathroom reader is The Book of Awesome, which shares much of its content with the 1000awesomethings blog.
I came across this entry, Finding out your birthday is on a Friday or Saturday. I didn't think anything of it. Oh, but I should have.

This week I found out about the Arts & Crafts 10 year anniversary concert. The Field Trip Music and Arts Festival will be on Saturday June 8th. Saturday? June 8th? But that means June 1st is ALSO on a Saturday.

And it all makes sense. After all, 365 days is 52 weeks + 1 day, and my birthday was on a Friday last year, when I was in France and saw Caravan Palace.

I can start party planning.
Awesome!

6:08 pm - Portable
I just picked up this shiny new USB drive.
And recently discovered portableapps.com/.

Next, even though my next smart phone will likely be better than some friends' computers, I'm planning to install a portable OS so that I can run my "own" computer from any machine I can convince to boot from USB.

Good things.

Incidentally, this project will be my introduction to the wide world of Linux.

1:54 pm - My Triumphant Return
I've been back home since September 10th, living with my parents.
I was hired and began work four weeks later, after Thanksgiving.
That same week, I found the apartment that I will be moving to in November.
I feel very fortunate.

I`ve spent most of my evenings and weekends catching up with friends, which has proven to be exhausting when combined with my commute from Mississauga. I can`t wait to be back downtown.

Eventually I will fill in some of the blanks in my travel blog over on Tumblr, and perhaps import it to this journal. Can anyone recommend a utility to copy entries from Tumblr to LJ?

4:48 pm - Travel Blog address
I now have a travel blog, on tumblr!

I feel silly having spent such a nice, sunny afternoon putting this together, but I do feel accomplished.

10:21 am - Stormy
I watched the storm for a long time last night, maybe the longest I've ever bothered to watch the weather. First, from my balcony, I watched the thunder and lightning roll in from the West. The storm was blowing towards us so strongly that rain was hitting me half way under the awning.

A bit later I was at the front of the house and sat inside my third floor windowsill to watch it over the city-core. The CN Tower was struck over a dozen times, just while I was watching. Crazy bright shots that crackled for a moment longer in the sky before dissipating.

Totally friggin awesome.

I did not take any photos, but surely there are MANY to be found online.

And here I found someone's video from the storm, well captured!

10:25 am - Funuary!
It's about time Funuary comes around again, taking the place of Lamuary. 2011 was off to a poor start -- well actually the past few months haven't been great -- but I have a few new things to be excited about.

This is the year I start living for myself.

12:21 pm - a new hope
All of you, I wish you a great night, wherever you may be and in whichever company you've chosen.

2009 held a turning point in my life, and introduced me to a whole new set of friends and two new festivals. It has hinted at what the future may hold, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the joys and changes of 2010.

Make the New Year your own.

12:01 am - hydrofail
Flooded basement!  Moving out will not come soon enough.

I did find a place at least.  I'm moving in August to the 2nd floor of a house at Avenue and Dupont, which is about 2.5 km from my office. I will have a roommate who I know through shared friends.

1:31 am - birthday is over
Well, almost.  I have a dinner with dad and grandparents tomorrow.  I have been swimming through birthday wishes on facebook, purerave, letter mail, faces, text messages and drinks purchased.

Saturday into Sunday was exceptional.  Slept in and played some GTA:San Andreas, then had my first drink as I left home for the pillow fight.  The pillow fight was great, with a couple hundred people bashing each other.  I jumped in with a hearty cry of "FOOOOOD FIGHT!!"  After the Pillow Fight, and with a short break for dinner, I made it to Brite a moment before midnight and saw so many people and danced and laughed and drank and chatted and played with a giant 4-sided litebrite.  Then came the after party and the merriment proceeded well into the morning.

I spent most of the rest of Sunday resting and recuperating.  I was came into the world in the morning, so hell, I might as well do most of my celebrating at that same time, and sleep the rest away like the day I was born.

A friend and I are taking an American Sign Language course on Monday nights, which is going pretty well, considering I have not been studying.  I should do that.  It is, otherwise, a great way to get the gears spinning again; promote a little neural plasticity, if you will.

The apartment hunt procedes.  I have a promising appointment at the end of the week.  I missed June 1, so it's either mid-month or July 1 at this point.

We've had a few nice weeks now, and so frisbee has resumed.  I am, most Wednesdays from 6:30 onwards, to be found on the field at College and Bathurst.  Afterwards we migrate to Sneaky Dees for nachos.

I have, unfortunately, been in a funk for the past few weeks, but I can see myself getting out of it shortly.  There has been a series of disappointments and if they stop, I should too.  I think my biggest problem is still living in my dad's basement in Etobicoke.  It's too far from my life, and I think I need to take some pride in my home.

Oh, and I'm going to Tennessee with Ross and Nathalie next week for Bonnaroo, a four day music festival featuring Pearl Jam, Metallica, Chris Rock, Tiesto, Les Claypool, M.I.A., Broken Social Scene, Jurassic 5, Ladytron, Against Me!, Chromeo, Battles and mooooooore!

current mood: cheerful

12:19 am - oh wow
so I guess my birthday is this weekend.  Sunday to be exact.

I've been looking at apartments, I'd really rather be living downtown than in Etobicoke right now.

As far as this weekend goes, I will be going to Circa on Friday, the Newmindspace Pillow Fight Saturday afternoon and Brite! Saturday night.
Follow the links below for more info if you choose.

5:39 pm
I'm pumped for my ski vacation after Christmas, I hope Vermont has as much snow and more as what we just received.

It's cold and windy though.  The snow is very light and non-sticky, which would be great if the wind didn't blow it back at me when I tried shovelling it away!  Clearing this driveway is a daunting task.  I've already begun, but am inside to warm my cheeks, blow my nose, and fill my belly with something fiery.

Better get back to it though, I'm going to be late for this evening's fancy cocktail party!

1:52 am - twenty second birthday
Thanks for all your awesome birthday wishes!  I think this year I've received the most I ever had, and that really says something about how awesome the past year has been.  I can only hope to make the next one even the tiniest bit better.

As far as my birthday shenanigans go....
If you are coming, please be either at my house by 1pm, or at 401 mini-indy for 2pm.

I'll try to be awake early to field questions online.  If you have either of my 416 phone numbers, don't hesitate to call as of 10am.

I want to do a bbq afterwards, but there is rain in the forecast and I don't know what to do for a contingency, or later in the evening.  Please I would appreciate help with planning and decisions.... suggest away!

Ick.. I'm a bit congested and my sinus pressure is still wonky since getting off the plane.  I'll write about Chicago in a few days or when I have gaps in my fun.  I picked up some duty-free Tequila on the way home. ;)

6:47 pm - Chicagoooooo

last night we went to a blue's club called Rosa's and ate at a little Mexican restaurant in a pretty rundown neighbourhood.

Today did a bus tour and went to the Museum of Science and Industry. We're going to Lawry's for Prime Ribs tonight.

Not sure yet about tomorrow, but I still need pizza, and maybe a chicago hot dog too.

Toronto needs to get over its fear of heights. Buildings here are beautiful and truly scrape the sky. The waterfront has huge lawns and boulevards with all sorts of things going on. There are several subway lines which all connect in a loop downtown and branch out towards the suburbs, along with the commuter trains. Next to Chicago, Toronto's infrastructure is truly pathetic.

That's it for now.

12:14 pm - Convocation
There was some doubt pertaining to outstanding grades, but I just confirmed that they have been submitted, that they are pass grades, and that I am to attend convocation Monday to receive my degree!

I'm really happy about this, I'm five days away from appending a suffix to my name.

I'm off to Chicago tonight, for a two day trip with my dad.  I'll be back late Friday night.

My birthday is Friday, but I won't be able to do anything with my friends until Saturday.  I'm planning for go-carting, I think 2pm is a reasonable time, I'll accept some feedback though.  After the racing, I think I can have friends back at my house, at least if it's nice out.  We'll have a bbq, maybe play some frisbee or something before heading out to a bar or some such in the evening.
All my friends are invited, please rsvp if you intend to.  It'll help me make sure that the track we go to can accomodate us all.  I'm looking at either 401 mini-indy, or Pro-Kart at East Mall & North Queen.

1:31 pm - Shwing
alright, off to the driving range in Burlington with my grandad, and then to Hamilton. Gonna spend the night and enjoy it.

The weekend was great. I was out downtown Friday and did something new. Saturday night was an even better break-in rave than the last, thanks to the dedicated Tri-Force congregation. I also got to enjoy two great meals at the Keg and Tucker's Marketplace, and spent a while with a couple friends from high school.

Several people have recently said they're interested in golf, leave a message here if you're one of them.

current mood: free

2:27 am - EVIL DEAD
Evil Dead.. the musical.

It's based on the zombie movie and playing in Toronto until mid-June.  I want to see it, in the SPLATTER zone, and am looking at tickets for Thursday the 24th.  They are $39 each + whatever service charges.
Respond ASAP, tickets are limited!

I'M DONE!!!

moving is in full effect, Char is being awesome and helping me with packing and loading the truck.

I'm going to turn off the computer now so that I can pack it and take apart the desk it sits on. Then I can load stuff into the truck, to put around the furniture. And then I can drive to Toronto and reverse the process. Hurrah!

12:21 am - a bunch of plans
Today I had a mock interview which went pretty well, I seem to be well prepared for behavioural questions, but after hearing the accomplishments of the other students present, I feel as though mine are rather weak.

Thursday morning I write my final exam, and in the afternoon I pick up my moving truck, load it up and get to Toronto.

Friday I have to return the truck to Hamilton early in the morning, and I will chill for a bit....

Saturday I drive to Ottawa, go to a friend's going away (to BC) party.

Sunday I move my sister's furniture to storage, and bring her and the rest of her stuff to Sudbury where we will visit some relatives.

Monday we leave Sudbury and move back to Toronto for the summer/for good?

Wednesday I will be back in Hamilton for a day, volunteering with the McMaster French Contest.

All this change is going to be awesome, I went to bed really early hoping to sleep a full night and wake up at 5am, but that didn't work.  I had a very exciting dream which obviously had alot to do with moving on to new things.  I'm not too sure how to spend the rest of the night pre-exam, I definately need more sleep, but I don't yet seem to be ready for it.
